Daycare Approved for Carson Elementary

The Ministry of Education and Child Care has approved funding to build a licenced child care facility to be incorporated into the new Carson Elementary School.

“We’re thrilled to support the creation of a new child care centre conveniently located at Carson Elementary School, providing more children with rich early learning experiences,” said Mitzi Dean, B.C.’s Minister of State for Child Care. “Locating child care centres on school grounds not only welcomes young children to the school community, but it also saves parents and guardians time with pickups and drop-offs.”

This new childcare facility will provide 61 new spaces in our community and will help address the high need. The centre will accommodate spaces for 12 children under 36 months of age, 25 children from 30 months to school age, and 24 school-aged children.

"The creation of these additional child care spaces at the Carson Elementary School will make life easier and more affordable for more families in the community,” said Jenna Sudds, Federal Minister of Families, Children and Social Development. “By providing them with reliable and affordable child care, our government is helping more families save thousands of dollars every year. We are committed to increasing access to affordable, high-quality, flexible, and inclusive child care in communities across the country, ensuring all children have the best possible start in life."

Funding for the facility is provided through the ChildCareBC New Spaces Fund, which is jointly supported by provincial investments and federal funding under the 2021-2022 to 2025-2026 Canada-British Columbia Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement.

We would like to thank the ChildCareBC New Spaces Fund for continued support of the Quesnel School District and the members of our community.
